DESCRIPTION

A simple, twitchy puzzle game that rewards spatial awareness and quick thinking, Dice Push is all about rolling dice to spawn men to push a yellow bar over the edge. Accurately roll your die into bonus zones and use it to knock over your opponents' pushers so you can win!

Based off of a classic flash game, Dice Push is a simple mobile game that's all about pushing with dice. In Dice Push, you and your opponent control dice catapults at opposite ends of a rectangular arena. In the center of the arena, a golden bar sits idle.

When you and your opponent roll your dice into the area, a number of small humanoids spawn corresponding with the number rolled on the die. This means if you roll a 5, you spawn 5 people to help you push. If you and your opponent have roughly equal numbers of pushers, not a lot of progress is made. When the numbers start getting uneven, however, the bar starts to move faster and faster towards one end of the map. The more pushers you have, the faster you push the yellow bar away from you. When it goes off the end closest to your opponents' catapult, you win the game.

Dice Push uses a number of creative mechanics to make the game interesting. For starters, there's a short cooldown on the dice catapult. This means that you can't throw the dice as often as you'd like. Instead of just making short rolls as fast as you can, you have to think about where you want the die to go. In other words, the quality of your rolls is much more important than the quantity.

In addition to spawning pushers based on the number rolled, your die can also be used as a weapon. Catapulting your die into your opponents' pushers causes them to get knocked over and disappear. This means that not only can you spawn up to 6 pushers with each roll of the dice, but you can also destroy several of your opponent's pushers and massively swing momentum in your favor.

Every once in a while, a gray circle will appear in the Dice Push arena. These circles will change the behavior of dice rolled into them. If a die lands in a circle with a number, the number of pushers spawned will be multiplied. A circle with "x2" can spawn up to 12 pushers, making it a really big deal in terms of bar momentum. Both players can take advantage of gray circles, meaning it's important to accurately roll your die into these gray circles before your opponent can claim them.

Another type of gray circle has a number of small arrows in it. These circles make the pushers your dice spawn a lot bigger and more powerful. These circles can actually overlap with the circles with numbers in them. Get a die in both circles at once and you'll be able to make up to 12 giant pushers and win Dice Push with ease.

Dice Push isn't a super deep game, but the billiards-like challenge of accurately launching a die is great fun for a few hours. The game's physics, animations, and gameplay are all clever enough to entertain, making it an ideal game for killing a few minutes in between more important tasks.

How to play

Dice Push might seem like it's all about randomness at first, but there's a lot of skill involved. Here are some tips to get the most out of Dice Push and win more of your games.

First, consider the cooldown on your dice catapult. Ideally, you'll launch a die every time the cooldown is up, but there are a number of situations where that might not be the best strategy. If taking the time to line up a more complicated shot will net you more than four pushers on average, it's totally worth taking a few extra moments to make sure the die goes where you want it. Missing a stacked multiplier zone because you wanted to throw a die immediately is not fun.

Second, remember to use zones as much as you can. Practice guessing where your shots will land so that you can bank dice off of your opponent's pushers and still get close to the multiplier zones. If you can hit a big clump of pushers and still land in a zone you'll get a massive advantage that should win you the round. Even if you're off by a little, you'll still get a normal set of pushers and you'll destroy your opponent's pushers as well, helping take the bite out of the fact that you missed the zone.

Third, be mindful of where your pushers spawn. On levels with holes, it's important to make sure that your freshly spawned pushers get a clear path to the bar. This might mean ignoring some multiplier zones entirely if you think the pushers would just fall in a hole. Remember, pushers who fall off aren't worth anything at all.

Fourth, think about where and when your opponent's pushers spawn. Keeping an eye on your opponent's dice when they land on the board can inform you about when it's best to go for multiplier zones and when it's best to hunt pushers with your dice. If your foe rolls a 6, start looking to shoot dice at the big clump of fresh pushers immediately. If they roll a 2, you can spend your die however you'd like. This tactic is extra important with multiplier zones, as taking out your opponent's big cluster from a gray circle will nullify most of their advantage.

Finally, relax and have fun. Dice Push is a pseudo-multiplayer game, which is to say that it wants you to think that you're playing against people. That doesn't seem to be the case a lot of the time. If you're getting frustrated that your opponents are winning, that's fine! The computer can totally cheat. Instead of beating yourself up, take a break and come back to Dice Push when you're less frustrated. Not only will you have more fun, you'll also have a clearer head and you'll be able to do the math and angle calculations needed to throw your dice exactly where you want them.
