Horror Nights Story: Dig Your Way to Make Your Escape

Horror Nights Story is a suspenseful game where you need to dig way your way to make your escape. In this horror-filled game, you can only use your trusty pickaxe and bomb as you find your way out of the spine-chilling mine you're trapped in. And if that isn't terrifying enough, there will also be monsters in the mine that will attempt to eat you alive.

Do you have the guts to play this thrilling action game? If your answer is yes, here's everything you need to know about Horror Nights Story below!

Horror Nights Story was developed by Paper Bunker. It was officially launched on Android devices in March 2015 and was later made available on iOS devices in April 2015. Four years later, Horror Nights Story finally made its debut on WebGL in April 2019.

Are you curious to know what awaits you in this game? Here are some of the exciting game experiences you can expect if you choose to play Horror Nights Story:

Survive through five different nights in the ominous mine

You will have to survive through five different nights as you find a way to escape this mine. And you can only use your pickaxe, bombs, and other available supplies in the mine to find a way to escape. Make sure to beat those five nights if you want to make it out of the tunnel unscathed.

Use your limited supplies wisely

Think that your grand escape will be a piece of cake? Not at all. Since you're trapped all alone in the mine, you only have a few supplies available with you. Aside from your trusty pickaxe, you can also use some C4 bombs, oil, and torches in the area to survive each night.

But of course, you'll have to use these limited supplies wisely. For instance, if you fail to use your oil sparingly, you might not have enough to help keep your torches brightly lit. And you wouldn't want to run out of oil to use in a very frightening place.

Beware of the terrifying blackouts

What happens if you don't have enough oil to keep the mine torches lit, you ask? Blackouts will occur if you fail to do so. Moreover, blackouts can also happen if you fail to regulate the mine's oxygen levels. So, be sure to regulate the mine's oxygen levels if you want to avoid blackouts in the mine.

You should do your best to ensure the mine doesn't experience one. After all, once the mine undergoes a blackout, monsters will start approaching you from any of the tunnels in the area. If you get caught by these monsters, they will not hesitate to eat you alive.

Stay away from the eerie monsters lurking in the mine

Finding an escape route isn't your only concern as you're trapped in this inauspicious location. As previously mentioned, various terrifying monsters are present in the area too. Monsters in this old mine include a range of spooky ghosts, creepy bats, and more.

No matter which monster type you encounter, all of them are waiting for a chance to catch and eat you. So, whatever you do, make sure to stay away from them at all costs. Fortunately, you can ward them off by keeping the torches lit or startling them.

How to play

You need to act fast and smart if you want to make it out alive out of the mines in this suspenseful game. So, if you want to become victorious in this one-of-a-kind single-player game, here's a helpful guide on how to play Horror Nights Story.

Refill the torches with oil to keep them burning

Aside from finding a tunnel to escape, one of your primary objectives in the game is to keep the mine torches lit. Keeping the torches lit ensures the monsters stay away from your place as you find your way out of the old mine.

You can keep the torches burning by refilling them with your supply of oil. To do this, simply tap or hold the torches to refill them with oil. You can determine if the torches are running low on oil by checking the battery bar that pops out beside them as you select the torch.

Startle monsters to scare them off

Simply keeping the torches burning might not be enough to ward off the monsters in some instances. With that said, you can also startle the monsters in the tunnels to scare them off even more. You can do this by going to any of the tunnels in the area.

Once you enter any of the tunnels in the mine, a prompt will appear in front of you, telling you to tap the screen to startle the monsters. Your character will now do the necessary actions to scare them off.

Maintain the oxygen levels in the place to keep the torches burning

Other than your available supplies, there will also be an oxygen generator at the site. You will have to operate the mine's oxygen generator to ensure that the place has plenty of oxygen. Besides, high oxygen levels are needed to keep your torches burning longer.

Having said that, make sure to frequently check on your oxygen generator to see if the mine's oxygen levels are high enough. You can refer to the oxygen state indicator machine to determine if the place has stable oxygen levels. If the number of bars starts to drop, you can tap on the generator's start button to let it generate oxygen in your area.

Break the mine's wall with your pickaxe or bombs to form a tunnel

Again, you can use your pickaxe to break blocks and dig a tunnel out of the mine. You can do this by tapping or holding onto the blocks. But of course, merely breaking blocks will only get you so far. And you'd definitely need to escape as quick as possible, especially when monsters are trying to get you.

This is where your C4 bombs will assist you. Once you've dug a deep enough tunnel, you can place your bomb there and wait for it to explode. However, make sure to keep your distance from the bomb. After all, the explosion can kill you and abruptly end your game!

If you're looking for a unique horror game to play, this game won't disappoint you at all. Despite its vibrant 3D cube world graphics, you'll be surely in for a shock with the jump scares awaiting you in this game. Overall, if you want a game that constantly puts you at the edge of your seat, Horror Nights Story is your best bet.
